Spiritual tourism on the rise, suggests Agoda report

Agoda reports both domestic and international travellers are increasingly exploring the country’s spiritual hubs

Agoda's latest accommodations search data indicates a notable rise in interest in spiritual travel in India during the last quarter of the year. Both domestic and international travellers are increasingly exploring the country’s spiritual hubs, with a reported four per cent increase in inbound searches and a 10 per cent rise in domestic searches compared to the same period last year.

Leading the list of domestic spiritual destinations are Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai, known for their unique cultural and spiritual offerings. Internationally, popular destinations include Kochi and Varanasi, attracting visitors from countries such as the USA, Singapore, Japan, and Australia.

Krishna Rathi, Senior Country Director, India Subcontinent and MEA at Agoda, commented on the growing trend, saying, "As the year draws to a close, the festive season offers the perfect opportunity for travellers to connect with India’s rich spiritual and cultural traditions. The rising interest in spiritual destinations throughout India reflects travellers' evolving preferences for more enriching and culturally immersive experiences."
