Sakura Wins World Luxury Restaurants Award 2016

SAKURA, THE Japanese restaurant at The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa in Delhi has won the Best Japanese Cuisine –Country Winner award at the World Luxury Restaurants Awards 2016.

Sakura is a pioneer in bringing authentic Japanese cuisine to India and has, according to a press release issued by the hotel, continuously set the benchmark for exclusivity, innovation and sensuous dining experience.

Expressing his happiness at this winning moment, Vipul Gupta, Executive Director, The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa, said, “beyond the recognition of an exquisite cuisine, it is the passion of a team that was rewarded during the World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2016”.

“Sakura is led by Chef Tetsu Akahira and team and has been chosen as country winner in the category for Japanese cuisine. This award is a true recognition of the passion, creativity, authenticity, loyalty and constancy of the chef and his team”, he added.

Gupta, expressing his gratitude at winning the award, also said that the award would continue to inspire the team at Sakura to excel.

The press release also added that the World Luxury Restaurant Awards are the only luxury restaurant award which inspires excellence and ignites healthy competition in the Luxury Restaurant Industry. Their aim is to highlight special features of restaurants and raising the level of food quality and the standards of service in the luxury restaurant industry. They recognize and acknowledge service excellence of the luxury restaurants and encourage luxury restaurants to strive for excellence in order to grow global competitiveness in the luxury restaurant industry. What makes them even more unique is the voting process which is totally unbiased as it is not undertaken by any jury or panel judges. Instead, it is based on the food experience as a whole, combined with aspects of service excellence, presentation, and quality and menu choices. Votes are only done by the regular patrons, guests and also from industry experts.

The World Luxury Restaurant Awards enables restaurants to compete in their chosen category, from a list of 78 categories.

Luxury Restaurants are selected for nomination based on the following criteria:

Interior design to a high standard - the seating area and table decoration should reflect a smart/stylish atmosphere; Good quality food, to the standard of haute cuisine - the head chef must serve food with excellent presentation, showing attention to detail; Excellent service reviews - the restaurant should have positive reviews and be well recommended for excellent service.

Voting is based on the food experience as a whole, combined with aspects of service excellence, presentation, quality and menu choices. Votes are from mainly from guests, but also from industry professionals that approve and support your establishment. The process is totally unbiased as it is not undertaken by judges who may be influenced or have certain favourites. Size of the establishment is not taken into consideration during the nomination or voting phases.
